Endless Flowers, Color, Sparkles & Magic!
Hello my fellow flower fairies! I’m so happy that spring (and almost summer!) is fully in bloom and here to stay! It’s been a glorious, sunny month with lots of floral adventures to see all the beautiful flowers, which was so necessary and needed after such a cold winter. It seems as if everywhere I look, something new is blooming and a burst of color is popping up ~ pinks, reds, yellows, purples and every color of the rainbow is just dancing in the sunshine…these blooms make me want to dance too! So this is a looong Flower Fairy Newsletter ~ I just have so many happy blooms and floral adventures to share! So make a cup of tea and keep reading for cherry blossoms and tulips and all the springtime happiness…
One of my favorite things about this time of year, and one of the things that makes such a difference to my mood, is just seeing so much color every time I get out for a walk, even if I don’t venture that far. Those little pops of color and joy make such a big impact and can turn my whole day around ~ it’s the magic and power of flowers! It makes me so happy to see bright blooms when I’m having a long day or when the sky is grey, it’s like they pop up in those moments when we need them the most. And of course, I always have my sketchbook with me to dream up magical new flower jewelry full of all the joyful sunshine and happy spring hues so we may always have colorful blooms with us everywhere we go!
I hope you’ve been getting out for lots of walks too and spotting lots of blooms! There are so many beautiful flowers blossoming and so many close to home too if you just keep your eyes open…
And one of the best parts of these warm days is seeing the sparkling flowers I grow shimmering in the sunshine ~ I like to think that they absorb extra happiness and magic among the spring blooms so that when you wear them, you have that springtime sunshine and joy with you everywhere you go, no matter the season…I hope these magical blooms always brighten up your day and bring you so much color and happiness, reminding you that wonderful, beautiful springtime always comes after even the longest winter!
And whenever I’m wearing a sparkly bloom, I always find the prettiest flowers out in the world too…it’s truly flower magic! I know I always say this, but I think wearing happy colors makes you notice more color and happiness (and therefore flowers!) out in the world too. Whether it’s while wandering down a new street to meet friends for dinner or walking to get groceries, there is flower magic all around if you just keep an eye out!
And sometimes when you really need to brighten up your day, a larger floral adventure is in store! One cloudy Friday, at the end of a very long week, I adventured to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens to see the beautiful magnolias and cherry blossoms…I just needed lots of pink! And as soon as I arrived, the sun came out and these beautiful blooms started truly sparkling…we are so lucky that we get magical pink trees every year! It’s truly a fairytale in everyday life, one of those special moments that we can easily get used to and take for granted but once we stop to think about it, we realize how incredible it truly is…
And when rainy days come, because they do come in the spring (and that’s what helps the flowers grow, rain is just as important as sunshine!), it’s time to put on all your sparkling flowers and bring your own color and joy to the world! I love being home and growing my magical flowers and drinking tea and reading a fairytale or romantic fantasy, especially during those rainy days (literally or metaphorically!) but there are so many magical things out in the world too. Bright, vibrant flowers always encourage me to be bold and inspire me to get out of my enchanted garden and try new things…
I think putting on flower jewelry is like putting on colorful armor ~ it lifts my mood and also helps me feel braver, like a flower blooming brightly no matter what’s happening in the world around it. And wearing a bright and colorful bloom is like having a talisman of happiness and joy with me, reminding me to smile and be myself and bloom fully too…how do bright flowers make you feel? Speaking of wonderful and magical things happening, I thought that I would end up missing the cherry blossoms at the New York Botanical Garden this year because between the trees blossoming early due to the warm weather and life things and making lots of new flower jewelry, I was very late venturing to the gardens…but I got lucky and caught the last of the cherries with their petals falling from the sky like happy pink snow…they were so magical!
With my heart full and happy and completely inspired by these magical pink blooms, it was time to get back to my enchanted garden and dream up magical, sparkling new flowers full of all this springtime color, sunshine and joy! I hope these new blooms inspire you to starting blooming too and to be your full sparkling flower fairy self and share all your true colors!
Each shimmering flower begins with layers and layers of the brightest glittering fairy dust in every color of the rainbow as I paint each petal…the more color and sparkle, the better! These fairytale flowers bloom slowly, shimmering with lots of glitter and magic, and then it’s time to add all the rhinestones for even more color and joy, until each flower is like a sparkling rainbow…
And then another magical new flower necklace started blossoming with two shimmering flowers, sparkling and shining with different colors on each side…I can’t wait to see this one in full bloom, it’s truly fit for a flower fairy queen!
And I can’t wait to share more shimmering new flowers with you soon! These magical necklaces (and perhaps a sparkling pair of earrings too…) are still blossoming, with so much color and joy and extra flower fairy magic, just like the beautiful flowers blossoming all around us.
