Roses, Wildflowers and the Most Colorful Summer Blooms!
Hello my fellow flower fairies! It is currently rainy and cold outside of my enchanted garden and I’m very happy to be surrounded by all the colorful flowers on this dreary day! I’ve been looking through all my favorite flower photos from this summer (roses, hydrangeas, hibiscus and endless wildflowers!) to remedy all these grey clouds and get lots of new jewelry inspiration so I thought it would be a good time to share this happy flower magic with you too in case it’s also dreary and cold where you are and you need a boost of summer sunshine and joy…
What I love about summer is that even living in a big and often grey city, flowers are blooming absolutely everywhere ~ along the sidewalk, in pots on stoops and in every big park and tiny garden. We’re so lucky to be surrounded by so much color! Every time I go for a walk, I’ll always see something new blooming if I keep an eye out…there is color and joy around every corner if you just look for it! Every sunny day (and even the cloudy ones!) are a chance to get out and explore and find something colorful and new…
And it really amazes me how these beautiful flowers can grow in a big city too, even in tiny spaces ~ they don’t let the concrete or hectic traffic bother them, they just bloom and bloom and it’s a wonderful reminder that we can do the same. If you’re like me and sometimes struggle living in a crowded place and miss quiet nature, these vibrant summer flowers are such a good inspiration…the conditions don’t need to be perfect for you to be happy and you can truly blossom wherever you are planted regardless of what’s happening around you!
If you truly need a boost of summer flower inspiration, here are the most beautiful and vibrant hibiscus! I can’t believe these magical tropical flowers bloom in the middle of the city in every shade of red, pink and orange…I even discovered the most beautiful sunset-colored hibiscus! Seeing these flowers makes me feel like I’m on vacation without even leaving my neighborhood…
But it’s always worth leaving my neighborhood to visit my favorite roses gardens every year ~ the ones at New York Botanical Garden and Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Stepping into these beautiful gardens is like arriving at a fairytale party, you can smell the gorgeous roses before you even enter and the air is full of butterflies and bumblebees and you’re surrounded by every shade of pink and red with cascades of roses blossoming everywhere you look….it’s truly so magical and one of my favorite moments of summer! Endless roses are blooming along the path, practically overtaking the benches so you can sit among them and feel just like a rose fairy queen!
There are always so many roses of every shape and size in every color and I love that they keep blooming and blooming, even returning for a grand finale with a new burst of color and joy every September…it’s like they know we need some extra flower magic to get us through winter!
And peonies! From the botanical gardens to the farmers’ markets across the city, these enormous happy blooms seem to suddenly burst forth with their fluffy petals in every shade of pink and yellow, just like a fairy princess’s ballgown. These magical flowers seem like they shouldn’t even be real!
One morning I woke up extra early and walked up to the magical High Line, a park that always feels like an enchanted forest to me, with its overgrown railroad tracks and endless wildflowers blossoming beneath shimmering silver birch trees, especially in the early morning when it’s hushed and quiet. It was only me and the bumblebees there, enjoying the most magical wildflowers! Despite some very hot days and summer storms, these flowers were just blooming and blooming, taking over the paths and benches and they reminded me to always be myself and bloom everywhere I go and to not worry about taking up too much space!
One of my other favorite summer flowers (honestly, all of them are my favorite!) are hydrangeas, whether they’re blue or purple or pink and something in-between, I just love all of them. The flowers are enormous and they seem to bloom forever and ever. They remind me of what I hope to do with my jewelry, to create flowers forever in full bloom to always bring us joy even when the sky is grey…and to create the biggest flowers possible!
Speaking of growing new flower jewelry, I spent the summer inspired by all these magical flowers and dreaming up endless new blooms full of color, sunshine and joy…I hope you wear and enjoy these now (and feel like a flower fairy queen attending an enchanted summer soiree!) and also wear these blooms all autumn and winter long so they might bring you that summertime magic when roses, peonies, hibiscus, hydrangeas and beautiful wildflowers seem so far away. Here is one magical flower necklace, the Alyssa Flowers Necklace, that is like an entire bouquet of summer happiness…
Each petal is shimmering with glittering fairy dust and is adorned with all the rhinestones for extra color and joy…I was so happy to find these pink and purple flowers that matched this necklace perfectly so I could give it an extra boost of sunshine and flower magic!
I hope all these summer flowers bring you so much sparkling color and happiness even as the days grow shorter and colder…and remember, flowers and joy are always there if you just look for them, no matter the season! I can’t wait to share more with you soon, I’ve been dreaming up even more magical blooms (including some enormous sunflowers!) to keep us happy, bright and blooming all autumn and winter long…
